Is Your Pet “One of the Family”?

Before I begin this blog, I want to thank DK Hebert Photography for providing all of the photos I am using in this post.  (Except for our dog, Daisy in the photo below)   If you are looking for a wonderful, professional, understanding, patient and easy to get along with photographer, look them up on my website, Magnolia Court Wedding Guide under Photographers.  You won’t be disappointed.

Our dog Daisy, was in our family for 17 years, our beloved best friend.

Daisy – our dog for 17 years

It’s not unusual…because it’s happen to us…to have a couple that want to include their pet in their event.  When we had our venue, I had one customer who wanted their dog to be the ring bearer.

We had a dog for 17 years…Daisy was very much a part of our family.  This is why I could totally understand when a customer of ours wanted to include their pet in their “special day”.  Yes, we allowed this, as so many other venues do as well.

Thank you to Kailyn and Mikey, the bride and groom in the photo above,  for allowing us to use the photos of their dogs in this wedding blog.

“Bayou” with the groom.

As you can see from the photo above, here is the groom with his dog.  And you can see from the photo below, here is that same dog walking down the aisle.  All three dogs pictured in the photos are for the bride and groom.  My gosh….they are all so cute!!!!!  And what great memories they will have for many years to come….their dogs in their wedding!

A dog walking down the aisle for a wedding.

“Bayou” is just so adorable!

There are a few things that you must consider because even if they have gone to obedience school….they are still a pet.  Below are a few tips that I suggest if you want to include your pet in your event.

A dog walking down the aisle for a wedding.

“Mochi” is ready to go!

Designate someone who isn’t in the bridal party to watch your pet for the day.  Make sure your pet is allowed to run and play during the day…to get out as much energy as possible.  If their is room on the venue property for your pet to run and play,  please remember to bag any “poop”…. it’s respectful to the venue and you don’t want your guest walking in that!

A dog walking down the aisle at a wedding.

“Audio” is looking so cute!

Take photos of your pet before the event or even on a different day.  If your pet is going to be a ring bearer, practice with your pet a few times.  If your pet is going to wear a new item…like a bow tie collar or a ring pillow…put it on several times before the event…offering treats for a job well done while you practice.

Make sure your pet relieves himself right before your event…you sure don’t want an accident happening during your event.

Please remember you are dealing with an animal and anything can happen….if things don’t go quite as planned…try to laugh it off and stay relaxed.

After all, I’ve seen some crazy things happen with a child who is a flower girl or ring bearer….it just makes your wedding more personal and is always a good story to tell!

Remember…have fun!  Relax!  Enjoy your day!

Happy Planning!

Flower Ideas For Your Wedding

A beautiful bridal bouquet tinting flowers with eyeshadow to get the color the bride wanted on her white calla lilies.

White Calla Lilies highlighted with lavender eye shadow

Sometimes my brides have accent colors they want to use…but they also have a certain flower they want to use that doesn’t come in the accent color they are using.

This happened to my daughter.   Her accent color was lavender.   She really loves Calla Lilies, and to this day she grows them beautifully in her gardens in Austin, Texas.  So she bought white Calla Lilies and took lavender eye shadow to highlight the tips of the Calla Lilies.  Perfect idea!  Her bouquet came out beautiful and the colors were just what she wanted.

Remember this when you are planning your flowers.  Think outside the box, like Maggie did.  I’ve told many of my customers this idea….and it’s helped many of them.

Also there are many options now for flowers.  You may want real flowers or for another option Something Borrowed Blooms who specialize in delivering on-trend, premium silk wedding flower collections for RENT on your wedding day.   They have many collections to choose from.

If you are looking for flowers for your wedding, renting or real, look at the listings I have on my website, www.magnoliacourt.com under

A couple having their first dance at The Madison, a wedding venue near Lafayette, Louisiana.

Before I begin this Wedding Venue Tour Blog I want to thank DK Hebert Photography for providing most of the photos I am using in this post, unless otherwise stated.  If you are looking for a wonderful, professional, understanding, patient and easy to get along with photographer, look them up on my website, Magnolia Court Wedding Guide under Photographers.  You won’t be disappointed.  Thanks to Liana & Andrew for allowing me to use their photos for this Wedding Venue Tour Blog.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting with Dwayne at The Madison Banquet and Reception Centre located in Broussard, Louisiana. Either Dwayne or his business partner and son, Jesse, are available to give you a wonderful tour of their beautiful and unique facility.  Dwayne told me they love having the venue partly because they are associated with people who are at a good time in their lives…a wedding…engagement party…bridal shower, baby shower, etc.   I totally get that!  When I had my venue I felt the same way.

We walked through the courtyard to get to the front door.  This courtyard is perfect for many things, one being a place for any of your guests who may want to get away from the music, to relax and visit as well as the perfect, picturesque place for your send off as the new Mr. & Mrs.

But I must say, when Dwayne opened the door to the venue, I noticed right away that not only is it extremely clean, but several things that I saw upon entering put the biggest smile on my face!  First you see the most beautiful 1930’s long leaf pine floors, not to mention the gorgeous, radiant chandelier supported by the 35’ ceilings…it’s just amazing!  In the venue are granite accents, wrought iron touches and high tech capabilities, to help create The Wedding of your Dreams!

Beautiful wedding venue, The Madison, located near Lafayette, LA set up for a wedding recpeiton.

Just look at this beautiful chandelier and the shiny wood floors!  As well as the beautiful bride, Liana, in the photo below!

Want to transform this beautiful venue even more?  The Madison allows ceiling swags, by Party Central to be hung.  It’s already a wonderful place!  But from the photo below you can see how the fabric just flows perfectly from the chandelier.

They do have an upstairs private room for the bride and a large elevated stage, with a spacious dance floor.  This large stage provides so much room for the band, DJ or whatever else you want to use it for!

As you can see from the photo below, the bride and groom, Liana & Andrew, are coming down the stairs from the stage to enter their reception.  What a wonderful shot at this first-class venue!

There is a nice bar area and The Madison has several bar packages to choose from, with their servers included.  The Madison is definitely perfect for large or small weddings, engagement parties, baby and bridal showers, brunches, cocktail parties or a small family gathering.  There is also plenty of parking space to accommodate your guests.

The Madison also has a kitchen included. They do not do catering, but do allow caterers if they are licensed and insured, with Dwayne or Jesse’s approval.  This is to make sure that they are professional so that you and your guests will have a great experience.  Dwayne and Jesse are there for you, to help you make the right decisions to have The Wedding of Your Dreams!

And if they are not booked the night before your event, they will allow you to get the venue the day before, to begin transforming this venue for your event.  I also love that they allow you to bring your own vendors in!  You can pick your DJ, decorator, cake baker, photographer, videographer, etc. With this beautiful venue you have so many choices on where to set up your cake, catering, sign in area, etc.

Look at this beautiful cake area that was set up for Liana & Andrew.

I think it is wonderful that Dwayne and Jesse not only have their venue for rent but they do a handful of wonderful charities and fundraisers every year for the Boys and Girls Club Gala, St Cecilia Gala, Taste of Broussard and Clash of the Cocktails.  To me that says a lot about the owners!

NOTE:  If you decide to call this venue directly, please let them know you found them on my website.  Thanks, Adrienne

Who Should Walk You Down The Aisle?

Before I begin this blog, I want to thank DK Hebert Photography for providing all of the photos I am using in this post.  If you are looking for a wonderful, professional, understanding, patient and easy to get along with photographer, look them up on my website, Magnolia Court Wedding Guide under Photographers.  You won’t be disappointed.

Who will walk you down the aisle, Alix chose her dad to walk her down the aisle.

When you are planning your wedding there are many factors to consider.  One of the things you need to think about is who will walk you down the aisle.

Alix, in the above photo, chose her dad to walk her down the aisle.  While in the photo below, you will see Anna chose both her mom and dad.

Who will walk you down the aisle? Anna chose both her mom and dad.

With divorced families, this decision can be especially hard.  Sometimes you don’t just have a biological father…but you also have a step father that you are close to and would like him included in walking you down the aisle. What should you do?  There is absolutely no reason both can’t be included as you see in the photo below, , Britney, chose to walk with her father and stepfather.

Who should walk you down the aisle? Qwen chose her dad and step dad to walk her down the aisle.

Another option is to have one walk you halfway down the aisle and the other one walk you the rest of the way.

While Gwen, in the photo below, chose her step dad to walk her down the aisle on her special day.

Who will walk you down the aisle? Qwen and her step father walking her down the aisle.

A bride who has no father living may decide to have their mom walk them. That is so awesome!  Their mom was not only their mother but also their father to them….why shouldn’t they pick their mother to walk them down the aisle.

Others opt for a close family member….sometimes a brother, uncle or even a grandparent.  I’ve had some brides who have no father or mother and a brother will walk them down the aisle. In the photo below, Amanda chose her Godfather to walk her down the aisle.

Who should walk you down the aisle? Amands's father passed away so she choose her Godfather to walk her.

And times have changed.  With the new laws, finally, we have this  wonderful couple below, Josh on the left and Evan on the right, walking down the aisle together!

Who will walk you down the aisle? Josh and Evan, same sex marriage, walk each other down the aisle.

Just remember that this is your day.  Do what makes you happy!

The Manor

When I arrived at The Manor, I was in awe; yep mouth open, of the beauty of the outdoor area.  Not just the Villa itself, but the landscaping, as well as the fountain area designated for outdoor weddings.  This is an 8600 square foot Mediterranean Mansion filled with chandeliers, crystal, and porcelain tile.  With a 300 guest capacity, there are also doors that lead outside to a 4000 sq. foot covered balcony where you can walk around the complete facility.  There is a 2100 square foot enclosed, air conditioned patio complete with chandelier for dining, dancing or extra seating.

A front view of The Manor, a wedding venue near Lafayette, Louisiana.

Nancy and her husband, Ross, own this beautiful facility.   I had the pleasure of meeting both of them.  Nancy greeted me at the door with a large smile.  I had read over many of the reviews for The Manor,  so I already knew that her clients loved her bubbly personality and attention to detail.  When I  do venue tours, I love the owners to treat me as they would a client;  so I can see how their personalities truly are.  Nancy did not disappoint.   I began to realize not only all this venue had to offer but also the attention to detail she indeed put into each and every event!  She gets excited talking about what she does!!!  I love that!

The venue is already beautifully decorated, though if you would like anything added or changed, Nancy is there to take care of all of your wishes.  She has 11 employees with microphones in their ears, so at anytime during your event, if anything is needed, one of her employees will take care of it immediately.

The Manor is a two story facility.  Guests have a choice to use the stairs  or take an elevator; and of course Nancy has someone to run the elevator and help any guests if they need assistance.  So as soon as the wedding is over and guests come in for the reception, they are lead upstairs;  while the couple, along with their wedding party and parents, etc., stay downstairs for photos.  This only takes about 15 minutes, because Nancy has everything planned and  precoordinated with the couple and photographer.

All lights are dimmed during the reception because Nancy has 100 candles lit throughout the facility…even in the fireplace.  While the guests are upstairs, looking over the railing to the area below, the DJ announces, “Ladies and Gentlemen we gather around the balcony for the first dance – ladies and gentlemen I present Mr. and Mrs……”

A view from the balcony on the second floor of The Manor, a wedding venue near Lafayette, Louisiana.

As Nancy and I walked through this beautiful and timeless facility, she explained to me about her events and the couples she’s had…and just hearing her speak reiterated to me, that she loves what she does!  She loves each couple and makes sure that each wedding is exactly what they want.  She looks at them as family…and reading her reviews I saw they too end up feeling the same way about her.  How cool is that!!!

The bridal dressing room is perfect in size and has everything the bride and the wedding party needs.  Nancy makes them cookies and chocolate covered strawberries!  That speaks volumes about the special treatment she gives each couple.  The dressing room is available 6 hours prior to the event, giving plenty of time to do hair, makeup, etc.,  all at The Manor.

A view of the bridal dressing suite at The Manor, a wedding venue near Lafayette, Lousiana.

If you are having an outdoor wedding near the fountain, Nancy has torches around the fountain as well as candles lit up on the fountain and down the aisle.

A view from the second floor of The Manor, a wedding venue near Lafayette, Louisiana, showing chairs setup for an outdoor wedding around the fountain.

All linens, chairs, chair covers, etc., are included for indoor and outdoor weddings, as well as the catering area.  Though everything is already setup , she will move tables, chairs, etc. to the wishes of each couple.

The family seriously doesn’t have to do a thing…Nancy and Ross, as well as her crew, take care of everything; even the smallest details like the pins for the money dance, or one of the biggest details… getting all of the cards and gifts together and taking them to the designated car.  They’ll  take the top of the cake off for the couple for their one year anniversary and pack it away,  making sure it’s put in the right car.  So when the couple are ready to leave, every detail has been taken care of and the couple and family leave with no worries at all!

The couple exiting the wedding venue, The Manor, located near Lafayette, Louisiana.

I was totally taken by surprise at the price of this wonderful venue!  It is extremely reasonable and not at all what I expected it to be…especially with everything that is included.  I am not listing prices on here….but please, make sure to click on the link below to set up a tour of her venue.  You will fall in love with her, the venue and the price!  NOTE:  If you decide to call this venue directly, please let them know you found them on my website.  Thanks, Adrienne

Maison de Tours St. Martinville, Louisiana

SUBSCRIBE TO OUR WEDDING BLOG

Maison de Tours is located in St. Martinville, Louisiana and opened it’s doors in 2018 and since then the owners, Dale and her son, Greg, have gradually added on to this beautiful venue and changed things as they were needed.  With an outdoor courtyard area, and a pavilion that can be draped, this venue can handle not only your indoor reception but also outdoor weddings and receptions.

And if it’s a little cold, Dale and her staff have that covered!   The pavilion has chiffon on the inside and tent sides that can come down to block the cold.  Want to hang outside in the beautiful courtyard area?  Not only is there a beautiful fountain, but she also has a fire pit and heaters that keeps it warm enough to have an outdoor reception in the winter!

Dale told me she doesn’t rush her brides the day of the wedding, and makes sure to do whatever she needs to make the bride and her family happy and stressed free, just as she would want her daughter to be treated for her wedding.  She also includes time for the rehearsal so everyone will be ready and knows what to do.

This speaks volumes to me!  She cares about each and every one of her clients and it shows.  The bride and the wedding party have all day to get ready in her beautiful upstairs area, which is filled with antiques, perfect for photos.  She also has a kitchen for them , long mirrors for the makeup artist are located everywhere, two bathrooms and so much more.

Dale, Aline, her coordinator who is there throughout your event, and her staff are professional , organized , prepared and as so many of the reviews I read said….easy to work with!  Dale includes just about everything you need for your event; the tables, chairs,  linens, table runners, a coordinator, candles throughout the inside and outside areas and so much more!  And Dale has so much in decorations the client doesn’t really have to bring in anything…but in you have something special you want, Dale and her staff will be there to work with you to make sure your day is exactly what you envision!

A beautiful part about this venue is the upstairs area being available to the guests.  Sometimes guests who come to events have not seen each other in awhile, and would like a place to be away from perhaps the noise of the music and the reception to just visit and talk or have a place for solace or to just chill!  This venue is perfect in that you can have it all…you can party, dance or find a quiet spot… Oh and you have to see the view from upstairs on the balcony with the church in the background!   Beautiful!!!!

Capacity is 375 easy, with 4 bathrooms, and a staff of 6-8 people at all times throughout your event.  Dale can recommend a caterer, or you may bring in your own licensed caterer.  She has a beautiful outdoor area for the caterer to set up, with lights that even change colors!  Her prices for her beverage packages are so reasonable, just as her price for the venue, especially for everything that is included!

If you are looking for a destination wedding…look no farther.  Dale has hosted weddings for brides from Australia, Singapore, England and Japan, just to name a few.  Guests can stay at the Castillo Bed and Breakfast located just a few blocks from the venue, or nearby St. Martinville is a Comfort Inn and La Quinta.  Your guests from out of town can enjoy all that St. Martinville as well as the nearby towns have to offer, including the church, Acadian Memorial, African Museum, Park Creole House, Lake Martin Alligator Tour, Atchafalaya Airboat tour and so much more!   NOTE:  If you decide to call this venue directly, please let them know you found them on my website.  Thanks, Adrienne

Adrienne “The Wedding Whisperer”

After owning my own wedding venue in South Louisiana for 20 years, I was ready to begin a new chapter in my life. I decided to close my venue and turn my website, http://www.magnoliacourt.com into a wedding venue website. This would give couples the opportunity to find their perfect venue in Louisiana.

Then after a year of touring wedding venues and adding them to my site, I realized that I wanted to move further into this quest. This is when I decided to begin this Blog on Wedding Venue Tours, Wedding Planning Hints and Ideas, Wedding Planning, as well as two of my loves, cooking..so recipes to share and traveling…I’ll be doing lots of traveling for the venue tours and for fun!

I have decided to only stay in the United States.   I’ve done research and there are so many blogs for wedding venues, especially for destination weddings, out of the country….but I say why go out of the United States.

America has so much to offer! Our terrain is absolutely gorgeous and so very varied, depending on where you go. No passport needed, a lot less expensive and most importantly, I believe, is we keep our monies in America, which will help to strengthen our economy.

I also love to cook.  I have many recipes from the south, from friends, relatives…and now with traveling the United States to tour venues…I look forward to finding new recipes to share with you.

I look forward to experiencing the wonderful things the Universe has given us in the beauty of the flowers, mountains, streams, woods, trees, the sky from different view…the list goes on.  I am grateful to have this opportunity and can’t wait to see what the venues have done with our Universes beauty to enhance their venue!  And then to share them with you!

I believe that at any given time in your life…you have choices…many of them.  Being positive…going for your dreams…be it your wedding, career, whatever…..will change your life.  Only you can decide what your dreams are.

In some way…I hope I’m not only fulfilling my dreams with this new venture…hopefully along the way I will not only help you make your wedding dreams come true…maybe somewhere along the way you will find your dream and the strength to pursue it.  Life is here for the taking…learn to take time to enjoy every moment.

I also love, love, love Yoga.  At 68 this month, June 27, 2019, it has been 4 years since I began my journey with Yoga.  So wish I would have started earlier in life…you should consider it…but more importantly, I’m grateful I’m there now.

I’d love to hear from you with any thoughts or suggestions.

Make your life wonderful!

Namaste
